Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome on Ray Rice: 'It doesn't look good'
INDIANAPOLIS -- Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said that while he hasn't personally been in touch with running back Ray Rice about last week's arrest, members of the team have been in contact.
After a video surfaced of Rice dragging his fiancee out of a hotel elevator, people have drawn conclusions about what happened. Newsome wouldn't speculate on the matter as the team continues to gather facts, but he admitted to watching the video.
TMZ posted the video:
"I did online just like everybody else did and it doesn't look good," Newsome said. "But I'm going to reserve all of my comments until I talk to Ray."
Newsome called the situation "very concerning," but was adamant that the team's director of security and others were getting Rice's side of the story, too.
"As a league we have a conduct policy and being a member of the league we will follow that from A to Z," Newsome said. "Up until we get to that point, right now he falls under the personal conduct policy. We would allow the league to take their position before we do."
