Last Lap: Redneck Cities Rating Upsets NASCAR Fans

The folks at Movoto.com (a blog covering the "lighter side of real estate") have drawn the ire of some in the NASCAR community.

The site put together a ranking of the "The 10 Most Redneck Cities in America" using criteria including percentage of population that didn’t complete high school, number of taxidermists per capita and number of NASCAR race tracks close by.

Movoto spokesman Nick Johnson told ABC News he's puzzled by the backlash.

"There were a lot of pretty upset people," he said. "We thought we'd get a lot of people saying, 'Heck yeah, I'm proud to be a redneck!' But I talked to a guy in Atlanta, and he felt it was insulting. He said, 'What do you know about rednecks and how are you going to determine that NASCAR, Walmart and country music are what rednecks are about'?"

This just reinforces the notion that you don't mess with NASCAR fans.
