Desperate times: Colts punter Pat McAfee volunteers for backup quarterback job
Given the state of the Indianapolis Colts' depth chart, punter Pat McAfee's offer to serve as the team's emergency quarterback (again) isn't completely outlandish.

That leaves Charlie "Clipboard Jesus" Whitehurst -- signed in mid-November -- as the only healthy quarterback on the Colts roster at this time.
"He throws pretty good," Colts coach Chuck Pagano joked about McAfee, per ESPN's Mike Wells. "We'll get him ready, we'll give him a couple plays. Go wildcat and direct snap, single-wing. We're putting together some stuff right now."
In his seven-year career, McAfee has attempted one pass -- in Week 16 last season on a fake punt pass play where McAfee actually threw a nice ball to Dewey McDonald that McDonald whiffed on.
Hasselbeck may still play on Sunday at Miami if he can overcome the physical impact of being a rather immobile 40-year-old quarterback in the NFL behind a shaky offensive line. Hasselbeck's injuries basically look like this right now:
