As long as veterans like Sidney Crosby and Marc-Andre Fleury are around, there could never be a true "youth movement" going on. That does not mean, however, that prospects like Kasperi Kapanen, Derrick Pouliot, and Oskar Sundqvist won't be given an opportunity to earn significant minutes.
Depth proved to be an area of concern that the Penguins struggled with in this past season, and giving their younger players a chance to prove themselves seems to be a likely fix. "Let me say this: They will be given a very good opportunity to make the Penguins next year," Penguins GM Jim Rutherford to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
