World Cup final roster deadline moved up to May 27

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 11:56 p.m. ET

NEW YORK (AP) The NHL has announced that final rosters for the World Cup of Hockey must be finalized by May 27.

The move up from the original June 1 deadline means the roster announcements won't conflict with the Stanley Cup final.

Sixteen-man rosters were named March 2 with the remaining seven players left to be announced.

The World Cup of Hockey features the United States, Canada, Russia, Finland, Sweden, the Czech Republic and two all-star teams made up of the top 23-and-under North American players and the top European players from the countries not participating.
