With Koivu hurting, Wild recall rookie C Almond

The Minnesota Wild have recalled center Cody Almond from their minor league affiliate.

The move was made Saturday. First-line center and captain Mikko Koivu hurt his hand while blocking a shot Friday in a win over Anaheim, and his availability is in question.

Almond has been back and forth between the Wild and the Houston Aeros several times this season. He has skated in five games with Minnesota. The 21-year-old has 12 goals and 15 assists in 52 games for the AHL club. He leads Houston with seven power-play goals.

The Wild host the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday. They're 10-4 in their last 14 games.
