Wild's Vanek skating following hernia surgery
Minnesota Wild left wing Thomas Vanek expects to rejoin his teammates on the ice by training camp.
Vanek told Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune on Wednesday that he has begun skating after having surgery to repair two hernias in his left groin.
The 31-year Austrian scored 21 goals and set up 31 others in his first season with the Wild. Vanek, however, was held to just four assists in 10 playoff games as Minnesota was swept by eventual-champion Chicago in the second round.
The fifth overall pick of the 2003 draft, Vanek has recorded 298 goals and 310 assists in 743 career games with the Buffalo Sabres, New York Islanders, Montreal Canadiens and Wild.
Vanek has started to skate after June surgery to repair two hernias in his left groin. Feels great, will be ready for camp, he says #mnwild
