The Minnesota Wild have signed former Minnesota Duluth forward Justin Fontaine to a two-year, entry-level contract.

The deal was announced Tuesday.

The 23-year-old Fontaine helped lead the Bulldogs to their first NCAA championship, a trophy they secured on the Wild's home ice with a win over Michigan on April 9 at Xcel Energy Center. Fontaine had 22 goals and 36 assists in 42 games as a senior. The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder was fourth in the nation in scoring and tied for second with 12 power-play goals.

He had 164 points in 159 career games with UMD. The Canadian was a three-time WCHA all-academic team selection and a three-time All-WCHA second-team pick.
