What's next for the Devils under Shero?

Published May. 7, 2015 1:32 a.m. ET

Lou Lamoriello is out as the Devils' general manager. Ray Shero is in.

It's a significant change of course for New Jersey, which has had only four general managers in its history and had been run by Lamoriello for the past 28 years.

But what, exactly, does Shero's hiring mean for the franchise? There are a number of questions yet to be answered, and they are summarized well in this article from Bleacher Report.

These questions include the obvious (will Shero bring in Dan Bylsma, trying to rekindle some of the magic the two had in Pittsburgh during two straight runs to the Stanley Cup finals?) to the insightful (how will the relationship work between Shero, who is officially the GM, and Lamoriello, who is still the team president and will retain significant power?) to the thought-provoking (is his time with the Penguins really an indicator that Shero is a good GM?).

It's the answers to these questions that will largely determine how quickly the Devils get things turned around and whether Shero is the right man for the job.
