Weiss voices concern over future role with Red Wings
Red Wings forward Stephen Weiss did not sound like a man who will be in a Red Wings sweater for much longer in a recent interview with the Detroit Free Press. Weiss, who turned 32 in April, has spent much of his two years with Detroit battling through injuries.
When Weiss was asked by the Detroit Free Press whether he envisions much of a role with the team next season, Weiss was very candid.
"After the way things ended this year? No, not really," Weiss told the Detroit Free Press. "I gotta earn a spot, there's no doubt about it. Similar as last season, I knew the same thing coming into this year. I was going to have to earn a spot, and I feel the same way next year."
Weiss has three years left on a five-year, $24.5 million deal signed in July of 2013.
