Vermette is a bust

What did you think the Chicago Blackhawks thought they were going to get out of Antoine Vermette when they traded for him?

Well, they sent a first round pick and defenseman prospect Klas Dahlbeck to Chicago, so if you guessed they had high expectations for their rental forward, you would probably be correct.

Instead, Vermette has given the Blackhawks five total points in 29 games. He was a healthy scratch for the first two playoff games after recording just three assists in the 19 regular season games he's played.

The Blackhawks originally traded for Vermette thinking that Patrick Kane would not return in time for the playoffs. They believed Vermette would be that scoring punch they would need on the third line, with second line potential.

Fortunately for the Blackhawks, Kane returned. Unfortunately for the Blackhawks, they can't return Vermette.

And what was Dahlbeck able to do in his late season stint with the Coyotes?

He recorded three points in 19 games.

Vermette has five points in 29 games.
