Vancouver's Alex Burrows claims injured neck a result of too much hotel time
Vancouver Canucks forward Alex Burrows missed Saturday's game against the Edmonton Oilers with a stiff neck, and he had an interesting idea as to how he suffered the injury. Burrows told reporters he believes his stiff neck is due to too much time spent in hotels.
Saturday's game was the first for the Canucks following a three-day break for Christmas, but Vancouver spent 10 days on the road for a six-game road trip in the stretch leading up to Christmas. The team went 2-3-1 on the trip and is 5-5-2 in December.
Burrows was one of seven regulars who missed Saturday night's game. Brandon Sutter is out long-term thanks to hernia surgery as is defenseman Dan Hamhuis, who has facial fractures. Lucas Sbisa has been out since Dec. 1 with a hand injury, and Ryan Miller missed his second game with what Canucks coach Willie Desjardins called leg cramps. Chris Higgins and Chris Tanev both missed Saturday's game with injuries Desjardins termed as day-to-day.
Burrows has 11 points (5 goals, 6 assists) for the Canucks this season through 35 games.
