Vancouver Canucks' Winger Brock Boeser Scores in NHL Debut

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 1:24 p.m. ET

Vancouver Canuck fans finally have something to be excited about as the team has finally embraced going through a rebuild and turning the team over to the youth.

The Vancouver Canucks were excited to sign 2015 1st round draft pick Brock Boeser once his college season at the University of North Dakota was finished.

The ink wasn't even dry when Boeser stepped on the ice for his first ever NHL game, which just so happened to be in his home state of Minnesota.

Boeser hails from Burnsville, Minnesota, which is just approximately 15 miles southwest of Minneapolis, where the Wild play at the Xcel Energy Center.

The Vancouver Canucks showed high class by inviting Brock's parents Duke and Laurie into the dressing room prior to the game to announce the starting lineup.

Brock's father Duke, suffers from Parkinson's Disease, making this an even more heartwarming story.

Just when you thought it couldn't have been written any better, Brock Boeser didn't disappoint anybody and he scored his first NHL goal in front of his family and new teammates.

Boeser scored his first NHL goal by joining the rush after Sven Beartschi made a beautiful pass with his skate blade following his stick breaking. Boeser then moved the puck ahead to Bo Horvat and it looked like they would have a shot at a 2-on-1.

Instead, Horvat used a burst of speed to get a slight chance at a breakaway. Boeser followed up Horvat's drive to the net, and after Horvat's shot was stopped, Boeser was there to pick up the garbage and put the puck past Darcy Kuemper.

The young Canucks forward will represent the changing of the guard for the franchise as they move on from the Sedin era. Expect Brock Boeser to join Bo Horvat, Sven Baertschi, and Troy Stecher as the new core of the club.

So far, so good for the young Minnesota native. Here's to many more goals!
