The Vancouver Canucks remain positive about their play, despite losing their last seven. Can they turn things around against the Toronto Maple Leafs?

Only a few short hours remain before the Vancouver Canucks take on the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Canucks have only managed two goals in their last four games — both came in the loss versus the Washington Capitals. Even so, Daniel Sedin and his teammates were optimistic about their chances:

It’s a good sign that the team remains upbeat despite having no success. Even coach Willie Desjardins was smiling this morning, even when he was asked about being fired.

Leafs head coach Mike Babcock is also giving Vancouver some credit:

You might find this hard to believe — I didn’y know they lost seven straight. What I do know is that they had 64 [shot] attempts one game and 74 the other game…Sometimes when you don’t score evryone thinks you’re playing way worse than you are.

So, the good news is that everyone, including the opponent, seems to believe in the Canucks. The bad news is that Babcock has not been lulled into complacency by Vancouver’s scoring woes.

The Maple Leafs, meanwhile, are not having trouble finding the back of the net. While they are only 14th in the NHL in goals-for, they will get a chance against a thin defense corps. The Canucks’ top defensive pair of Alexander Edler and Chris Tanev are both out with injuries.
