Toronto Maple Leafs: Is It Time For Leipsic To Get A Look?
Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Brendan Leipsic has been playing well for the Toronto Marlies, is it time for him to get a look?
Leipsic has been working his magic with the Toronto Marlies in hopes of getting a chance with the Toronto Maple Leafs, and he’s been doing a good job.
He currently sits with 23 points in 18 games to lead the Marlies in points and sits first in the entire AHL in points.
It’s an impressive start for a player who needed to come out of the gates flying to make an impression on the front office in Toronto.

Leipsic had a big year for the Marlies in 2015-2016 and registered three points in six games in a quick stint with the Leafs. This year his development has taking a big swing upward, and with less weapons around him.
The Toronto Maple Leafs currently have a one-way logjam, which may be preventing Leipsic’s entry into the lineup, but they should be considering waivers to give the kid a chance.
It’s hard to ignore Leipsic’s offensive abilities in the AHL, and it should be just as hard to ignore the possibility of him inserted into the Leafs top-nine forward group.
While the Leafs aren’t struggling to score goals right now, that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be searching for more players who can help the cause.
Leipsic would be a welcome addition to the current roster over Ben Smith, Peter Holland and Roman Polak – just to name a few.
All three players would be subject to waivers, but all three would likely clear given their value as NHL hockey players.
If there’s one player who should be grabbing the attention of the Toronto Maple Leafs management it’s Brendan Leipsic, and they need to figure out a way to get him to the big leagues.
