Toronto Maple Leafs: Fireworks Fly In Win Over Canucks
The Toronto Maple Leafs added to the misery of the Vancouver Canucks as they picked up a 6-3 Saturday night.
For the first goal of the game, Nikita Zaitsev showed off his skating ability and offensive awareness during the 4 on 4 time of play. After skating around the net, Zaitsev was able to set-up Nazem Kadri for the one-timer.
With over three minutes left in the first, the Maple Leafs received some puck luck. After James Van Riemsdyk’s pass was able to get through the crowd of Canucks which resulted in Tyler Bozak scoring the second goal of the game.
The offense appeared to be click and it looked like the Maple Leafs were going to run away with the game, but Derek Dorsett was able to score just a few seconds later to cut the lead in half and give the Canucks some momentum heading into the first intermission.
After exchanging goals in the second period, the Maple Leafs were finally able to pull away from the Canucks in the third thanks to some of the youth on the team.

Mitch Marner continued his scoring touch by scoring off the pass from Tyler Bozak while Nikita Soshnikov got his first goal of the season after Ben Smith stole the puck from Ben Hutton.
Lastly, Jake Gardiner put the last dagger in the Canucks when he made it 6-3 after scoring off a pass from Auston Matthews.
Then came the fireworks.
In the middle of the third period, Morgan Rielly caught Jannik Hansen looking at the puck, which led to a big hit. Then a few moments later, Nazem Kadri found himself at the center of a controversy after he laid a hit on Daniel Sedin leading to Kadri having to drop the gloves with the aforementioned Hansen.
However, this was not the end of the mayhem. After the Maple Leafs scored their sixth goal of the game, things began to unravel for the Canucks.
With the Canucks struggling, Alexandre Burrows decided to sell a call to try and get them on the power play. Nonetheless, once that idea failed he decided to take out his frustration by spearing Rielly, which led to both getting into a scrap at center ice.

Being the agitator on the Canucks, Dorsett decided to get in on the scrap when he dropped the gloves with Leo Komarov. However, the fireworks came after the fight when Matt Martin decided to chirp him from the Maple Leafs bench and let’s just say that Dorsett was not happy about it.
Furthermore, this was not the end of the mayhem.
After chirping Dorsett, Martin was in the middle of things again when he dropped Troy Stecher; leading to both players dropping the gloves, but that did not last very long as Ryan Miller decided to step in to try and protect the rookie and all hell broke loose.
The Maple Leafs treated everyone watching last night’s game to a score fest. However, they also provided a few sports entertainment, something that can only be found in the WWE with all the extracurricular activity that went on in this game.
