Toronto coach Babcock hopes Blue Jays distract fans from Leafs
All of Toronto is abuzz as the Blue Jays officially clinched the American League East championship for the first time in 22 years, and the Toronto Maple Leafs were quick to congratulate their sporting brethren.
Plenty of players with Toronto ties across the NHL also celebrated the Jays win, but Toronto coach Mike Babcock might have some ulterior motives when he roots on the Jays in the playoffs this October.
Babcock was very displeased with his team's recent preseason performance, a 4-0 blanking at the hands of the Buffalo Sabres, and he called out his team's veteran players following the loss. Since baseball's postseason lasts a month at its longest, Babcock better hope his team is in winning shape come November.
Congratulations to the @BlueJays, your 2015 AL East Champs. All of Toronto is behind you. #ComeTogether pic.twitter.com/Wc5TSVv7wv
