Time to ditch Dougie might be nigh
The Bruins face a difficult situation this summer with restricted free agent Dougie Hamilton. Tabbed as the top defenseman of the future, Hamilton is obviously an important asset for the team to keep.
But the Bruins do not have a lot of cap space and the price for Hamilton will be high, meaning there is a good chance other teams could out-bid the Bruins with an offer sheet for the young defenseman.
Stanley Cup of Chowder took a detailed look at the situation and came up with this question: "With the Bruins having a relatively deep defense, potential to draft another strong D in 2015 and prospects to step up from the AHL together with any acceptance of the offer putting them hard against the cap, could this be the circumstance that sees them let Hamilton walk?"
The situation is one that Bruins fans probably don't want to see, but Hamilton might become the unfortunate victim of a salary cap that was mismanaged for years by former GM Peter Chiarelli.
