Goalie Jose Theodore has left the Capitals to travel back to Washington for personal reasons.

To replace him, the team recalled Michal Neuvirth from the Hershey Bears of the AHL to be the backup to goalie Semyon Varlamov against the New York Rangers on Tuesday night.

The Capitals expect Theodore to be away only for one day.

Washington also recalled center Jay Beagle from Hershey.
