Jonas Andersson scored two third-period goals and Sweden beat Germany 3-1 to win the gold medal at the world hockey championship on Sunday.

Sweden has captured the bronze 15 times, six since the current playoff format was introduced in 1992.

Magnus Paajarvi Svensson gave Sweden a 1-0 lead less than three minutes in, but Alexander Barta converted his own rebound with four minutes left in the second period to tie it for Germany.

Germany was trying to win its first medal at the hockey worlds since earning silver in 1953 as West Germany.
