Stars' Wandell to have ACL surgery

Dallas Stars rookie center Tom Wandell will have season-ending knee surgery after tearing an anterior cruciate ligament last week against Vancouver.

The Stars put Wandell on the injured list Thursday, a week after the 22-year-old injured his left knee in a 4-3 loss to the Canucks.

Wandell had five goals and 10 assists in 50 games and is tied for first on the team with three game-winning goals.

The native of Sweden was a fifth-round pick by Dallas in 2005. He spent most of last season in the Swedish Elite League, scoring 41 points in 51 games for Timra IK.
