Senators defenseman scores own goal

After giving up a franchise-record 57 shots on Friday night, it would'€™ve been difficult for the Ottawa Senators to upstage that embarrassing performance in their very next game.

Turns out they were up for the challenge.

In the midst of a four-game losing streak, things got worse for the Sens before they got better. Before Craig Anderson was stretchered off the ice after a scary collision, the goaltender got tested by one of his own during the third period. As if Ottawa hadn'€™t faced enough shots in their own end recently, defenseman Mark Borowiecki added to Ottawa'€™s woes, failing on a clearing attempt and burying the puck in his own net.

The rookie backhanded the puck right between Anderson'€™s legs, breaking the 2-2 tie and putting the Stars up by a goal early in the third. Although Bobby Ryan would later bail his teammate out and send the game into overtime, Ottawa ended up falling to Dallas 4-3 in a shootout.

Afterward, the team tweeted out that it maybe wasn't as bad as it first appeared.
