Senators coach Dave Cameron: 'Now we have a series'

Published Apr. 24, 2015 11:34 a.m. ET

Dave Cameron might have been a bit premature when he told the media following a Game 4 win that the Senators and Canadiens now have a competitive series. The Canadiens, after all, are still up three games to one.

But if the Senators can eke out another win in Game 5 on Friday, Cameron might very well be correct with his assessment of this first-round match-up.

The Senators have been playing in high stakes games for months now, as they required a historic run to even make the playoffs. But Friday's Game 5 will be the highest pressure game these Senators have played in all season. Ottawa will be on the road, facing off against Montreal in the Bell Centre with a hostile and loud crowd rooting against the Senators.

But the team's fighting spirit continued to shine in the statement made by 20-year-old rookie Curtis Lazar ahead of Friday's game.

"Of course it's going to be tough, but we're up for the challenge," Stone said to the Ottawa Sun. "You want to be playing at this time of year, and we've got more fight in us. We're going to go down swinging."
