Hurricanes update: The 'Canes World Tour hits San Jose as road-weary Carolina (2-2) looks just to survive a brutal start to their season. Before they play their home opener Oct. 27, Carolina will have traveled 15,000 miles through four countries and across 11 time zones. After defeating Minnesota twice in Finland to open the season, the Hurricanes have lost the first two of a five-game North American trip. After tonight, they finish up with games in Los Angeles and Phoenix. "It's pretty ridiculous," D Joe Corvo said. "Whatever you got to do to make money."

Hurricanes injuries: LW/RW Jiri Tlusty (knee surgery) is out.

Sharks injuries: D Derek Joslin (broken thumb) is out. Mayers (arm) is questionable.
