BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) The Buffalo Sabres have signed first-round pick Alexander Nylander.

Nylander, the No. 8 overall pick last month, signed a three-year, entry-level deal Friday.

The 18-year-old Nylander is the son of former NHL player Michael Nylander. His older brother, William, plays for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

A 6-foot-1 forward, Nylander led Sweden's 2016 world junior championship team with nine points and earned Ontario Hockey League Rookie of the Year honors playing for the Mississauga Steelhead last season.
