The Buffalo Sabres have recalled left wing Matt Ellis from their American Hockey League affiliate in Rochester.
Ellis steps into the roster for Sabres leading scorer Cody Hodgson, who will miss his second straight game with a lower body injury.
Ellis played six games for the Sabres before being sent to Rochester, where he was selected captain.
He has 10 points in 25 games for the Americans, including two points and the shootout-winning goal in Friday night's outdoor win over Lake Erie at Rochester's Frontier Field.
