Sabres re-sign McCabe to 3-year, $4.8 million contract
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) The Buffalo Sabres have re-signed defenseman Jake McCabe to a three-year, $4.8 million contract extension.
The Sabres announced the signing on Thursday, and a person with direct knowledge of the contract revealed its value to The Associated Press. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the Sabres did not provide that detail.
McCabe was a restricted free agent whose rights were retained by Buffalo on Monday.
The University of Wisconsin product established a regular role in Buffalo last season. McCabe had four goals and 10 assists while averaging a little more than 19 minutes of ice time over 77 games.
The Sabres also announced they re-signed forward Cole Schneider to a one-year, two-way contract. The Buffalo-area native made his NHL debut by playing two games in April after spending the previous four-plus seasons in the minors.
Buffalo acquired Schneider in a trade with Ottawa in February.
