The Buffalo Sabres have acquired forward Brad Boyes from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2011 draft.
The 28-year-old Boyes had 12 goals and 41 points, tied for third-best on the Blues, but has lost his scoring touch in recent seasons. He scored a career-best 43 goals in 2007-08 and followed up with 33 the next season, but has totaled 26 goals in 146 games the last two seasons.
The Sabres were ninth in the Eastern Conference, two spots out of the final playoff spot, before Sunday night's trade. St. Louis is 13th in the Western Conference and is in rebuilding mode, trading defensemen Eric Brewer and Erik Johnson earlier this month.
