Sabres coach says it's possible Eichel plays at Ottawa
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) Jack Eichel says he's cleared every hurdle in recovering from a sprained left ankle, and Buffalo Sabres coach Dan Bylsma says there's a possibility the center will make his season debut at Ottawa on Tuesday.
Bylsma said ''we'll see,'' but noted he liked what he saw out of Eichel during practice Monday. The final test is whether the player will have any setbacks before game time.
Eichel took part fully in practice, when he was reunited with his linemates and also saw time on Buffalo's top power-play unit.
He has been out since hurting his ankle during practice on Oct. 12, a day before the team's season opener against Montreal.
Eichel was the second player selected in the 2015 draft, and coming off a rookie season in which he had 24 goals and 56 points in 81 games.
