Report: Wild interested in free-agent forward Jarome Iginla
While Jarome Iginla wants to return to the Bruins, salary-cap issues likely prevent that from happening, the Boston Herald reports.
If that is indeed the case, could the Minnesota Wild be a potential landing spot for the free-agent forward?
The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that the Wild have been in contact with Iginla's camp, though it's unclear if there's interest on the 37-year-old's part in joining the team that advanced to the Western Conference semifinals this past season.
Even at 37, Iginla figures to command considerable demand on the free-agent market after tying for Boston's team lead with 30 goals and tallying 61 points (third best). The Wild, which ranked 24th in scoring last season, desperately want to improve on that front.
The Wild are also interested in fellow free agents Thomas Vanek (27 goals) and D Matt Niskanen. Free agency's floodgates open July 1, when teams are officially allowed to sign players.
