A Minnesota dad was charged on Friday with making felony terroristic threats after he allegedly assaulted his son's hockey coach, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported.

Thomas Angelo Tonda, 49, is accused of choking the youth hockey coach and threatening to kill him earlier this month after the coach reprimanded his son for fighting.

According to the report, the unidentified coach told police that Tonda's son was involved in an on-ice altercation during a Dec. 6 practice, at which time the player began swinging his stick like a baseball bat and struck one of the other players.

The coach reportedly reprimanded Tonda's son verbally and ordered him to get back in line for a drill, but the son opted to leave the ice and went straight to the locker room with Tonda following him.

A short time later, Tonda returned to the edge of the rink and began yelling at the coach. When the coach told him to go home, the enraged dad allegedly attacked him and put him in a chokehold.

Tonda screamed, "I am going to choke you out," according to the coach, who told police he began blacking out at one point.

Another coach finally pulled Tonda off his colleague, with the dad allegedly screaming, "I'm going to (expletive) kill you," as he left the rink.

Tonda was charged with felony terroristic threats and misdemeanor fifth-degree assault. He faces up to five years behind bars on the more serious charge, according to the Pioneer Press.

The alleged incident took place one week after another father in nearby Lakeville, Minn., was accused of punching his son in the face after the boy's team lost a game in a youth basketball tournament.
