Red Wings' Lidstrom out again with bruised ankle

Published Mar. 2, 2012 7:44 p.m. ET

Red Wings captain Nicklas Lidstrom missed his second straight game Friday night because of a deep bone bruise in his right ankle suffered on Feb. 25.

The veteran defenseman will miss at least two more games with the injury. Lidstrom's ankle has been X-rayed twice.

It is only the 37th game that Lidstrom has missed in his 20-year career.

The seven-time Norris Trophy winner, who won the award as the league's top defenseman last season at 41, has 10 goals and 31 points and is plus-25 in 62 games this season.
