Red Wings assign Marchenko to AHL

DETROIT (AP) The Detroit Red Wings have assigned defenseman Alexey Marchenko to Grand Rapids of the AHL.

The 23-year-old Marchenko has played 12 games with the Red Wings this season, totaling a goal and an assist. The Moscow native has also appeared in 41 games for Grand Rapids, contributing two goals and 15 assists.

Marchenko was picked in the seventh round of the 2011 draft. He spent parts of four seasons with CSKA Moscow in Russia's Kontinental Hockey League from 2009-13.
