Predators get Parent in Flyers trade

Published Jun. 19, 2010 1:00 a.m. ET

The Nashville Predators have acquired defenseman Ryan Parent from the Philadelphia Flyers for defenseman Dan Hamhuis and a conditional pick in the 2011 draft.

The trade announced Saturday came before both players are scheduled to become free agents in July.

Parent was Nashville's first pick in the 2005 draft and was sent to Philadelphia in 2007 in a trade that brought Peter Forsberg to Nashville.

The 23-year-old blueliner played his first full NHL season last year and appeared in 17 playoff games during the Flyers' run to the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals.
