Pete DeBoer fills New Jersey Devils' coaching vacancy

NEWARK, N.J. — The New Jersey Devils filled their coaching vacancy Tuesday with the hiring of former Florida Panthers head coach Pete DeBoer.
According to several reports, DeBoer will be officially introduced at a 3:30 p.m. ET press conference.
DeBoer, 43, was fired April 11 after missing the playoffs in all three of his seasons with Florida, his first NHL head coaching job.
DeBoer will replace Jacques Lemaire, who stepped down after the April 10 season finale. Lemaire was subsequently asked by general manager Lou Lamoriello to return this season, but Lemaire has insisted on a monthly basis he won't be coming back.
Lemaire replaced rookie coach John MacLean Dec. 23 and after a 1-7 start, led the Devils on a 23-3-2 run, but the team eventually fell short of its 14th straight playoff berth
