Penguins send down Tangradi, Hutchinson

Published Oct. 25, 2010 2:09 p.m. ET

The Pittsburgh Penguins have assigned forward Eric Tangradi and defenseman Andrew Hutchinson to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, clearing the way for forward Arron Asham to be activated for Wednesday's game at Tampa Bay.

Asham has been out since injuring his left shoulder late in the preseason. Forward Jordan Staal remained on the injured list Monday with infections in his right foot, but he could be ready soon.

Staal couldn't work out during the offseason and sat out training camp, but he has recovered much faster than expected since he began skating two weeks ago. He had not been on skates since the Penguins' second-round playoff loss to Montreal in May.

Tangradi had one goal and one assist in nine games. Hutchinson had one assist in five games.
