Penguins acquire forward Daniel Winnik from Maple Leafs

PITTSBURGH (AP) The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired gritty forward Daniel Winnik from the Toronto Maple Leafs for forward Zach Sill and a pair of draft picks.

The 29-year-old Winnik had seven goals and 18 assists in 58 games with the Maple Leafs this season. He led Toronto with a plus-15 and 50 blocked shots. Winnik gives Pittsburgh experienced depth at forward as the team tries to separate itself in the crowded Metropolitan Division.

Sill had one goal and two assists in 42 games with the Penguins after signing as a free agent last summer. He spent the majority of his time in Pittsburgh on the fourth line. The Maple Leafs will also receive a fourth-round pick in the 2015 draft and a second-round pick in the 2016 draft.
