Parros out 4 weeks with torn retina

Published Nov. 7, 2011 8:38 p.m. ET

Anaheim Ducks enforcer George Parros will be out for four weeks after having laser eye surgery to fix a torn retina.

Parros had surgery Monday, the Ducks announced.

The veteran forward was injured when a deflected puck hit him in the left eye during Anaheim's practice in Detroit last Friday. He's expected to recover fully after surgery.

The 31-year-old former economics major at Princeton is in his sixth season with the Ducks. He has 12 goals and 442 penalty minutes over the past three seasons in Anaheim.
