The Toronto Maple Leafs to a field trip to Game 5 of the ALDS to watching their baseball brethren fight for a spot in the ALCS, and the Leafs ended up getting more involved in the game than many would expect.

Nazem Kadri and Nick Spaling were sitting at the railing of the second deck of outfield seats which ended up being right where Jose Bautista hit his go-ahead three-run home run in the seventh inning of the game, and Spaling said he nearly caught the ball.

"We were at the railing, so I didn't want to fall over," Spaling told reporters. "That would have been a nice ball to catch. I missed it. I blew my shot."

Kadri didn't seem to mind missing out on a piece of free memorabilia from the game as he reveled in the memory of Bautista's home run Thursday.

"That was unbelievable," Kadri told reporters. "He got a hold of that one. I was actually sitting right there and almost caught the ball, to be honest. It was definitely fun. And the whole stadium erupted."

The Leafs won't be in attendance for Game 1 of the ALCS on Friday, however, as Toronto has a game against the Blue Jackets Friday night.
