Oilers' Yakupov out 2-4 weeks with sprained left ankle

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) Edmonton forward Nail Yakupov is expected to miss two to four weeks after spraining his left ankle in the Oilers' 4-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday night.

Yakupov was knocked down when linesman Matt MacPherson lost his balance and fell backward after a faceoff early in the second period. Yakupov had to be helped off the ice.

''It could've been significantly worse based on what happened,'' Oilers coach Todd McLellan said Thursday. ''Hopefully, he heals quickly.''

Yakupov had picked up his 100th career point in the game. He has two goals and 10 assists in 22 games this season.
