Obscure numbers prove how close Canadiens-Senators series truly was

The Hockey Writers compiled a list of some of the best numbers from the Canadiens' series against the Senators, and these statistics show the series was incredibly close despite ending in six games.

Although the Canadiens won the series, four games to two, they held a two-goal or more lead for just 0.3 seconds in the opening round. That lead came in the final second of the series, as the Canadiens took a 2-0 lead in the final second of Game 6 on an empty-net goal.

Game 5 and Game 6 were the only games decided by more than a one-goal margin, and the Canadiens and Senators both scored 12 total goals in the series. Most of Ottawa's goals came in a 5-1 Game 5 win.

Another interesting statistic from the series came in overtime, as the Canadiens played two overtime games to increase the franchise's playoff overtime games total to 146, the most by any NHL franchise.
