The schedule makers weren't kind to the Thrashers, who play the Lightning the night following their season opener. It's the first of nine home-away back-to-back games this season.

Thrashers coach Craig Ramsay will return to Tampa, where he served as an associate coach from 2001-07. He won a Stanley Cup with the Lightning in 2004.

After a 6-3 Thrashers victory in the first meeting last season, the Lightning won the final five games of the season series, four by one goal.

Defenseman Pavel Kubina, who played for the Thrashers last season, signed with Tampa as a free agent.
