Next court hearing for Sabres forward O'Reilly is Sept. 10
LONDON, Ontario (AP) Buffalo Sabres forward Ryan O'Reilly's court case in connection with an impaired driving charge has been continued to Sept. 10.
The decision was made Thursday morning during O'Reilly's first hearing in London, Ontario, court. The 24-year-old player was not required to attend, and was represented by his lawyer, David Humphrey.
According to police, O'Reilly was arrested and charged with impaired driving and failing to remain at the scene on July 9. That's when a green pickup truck struck the side of a coffee shop and restaurant and then drove away.
The accident occurred a week after the Sabres signed O'Reilly to a seven-year, $52.5 million contract extension. He's due to make $6.2 million next season.
Buffalo acquired O'Reilly in a multi-player trade with Colorado on June 26.
