New York Islanders vs. Wild: Woes of Playing at Home
The New York Islanders complete a four-game home stand against Western Conference opposition as the Minnesota Wild come to town. Hopefully, home ice can be an advantage this time.
In the third home game of the season at the New York Islanders escaped with a 3-2 win against an Arizona Coyotes team that was fresh off a 5-2 loss to the Canadiens the night before.
The post-game talk focused on the fact that Tavares and Ladd were once again held off the score sheet. Over the course of five games the two have but two points between them. Time should cure their scoring woes, but until it does Isles fans are left a little…stressed.
Andrew Ladd was going compliment John Tavares. He was going to be that elite level winger that Tavares has needed ever since he was drafted in 2009.

Re-Occurring Issues
But for all the focus that Tavares and Ladd should receive, the focus is on the ice conditions at the Barclays.
It emerged that the Barclays floor piping system didn’t meet NHL standards:
The complaints of bad ice aren’t new. In the playoffs last season the quality of the ice at the Barclays was criticized by players from both sides, both home and away. Kyle Okposo had some unfavorable words for the ice during the Isles playoff push.
And now we’re hearing it again. It seems Barclays did nothing to address ice quality during the offseason. Which begs the question; what have Barclays done to improve the Barclays experience last season?
The Isles banners are flying from the rafters. But that seems like the experience improvements stopped there. We’re five games into the season and the very surface the game is played on is questionable. It’s embarrassing.
