New York Islanders vs. Philadelphia Flyers Preview and Line-up
The New York Islanders take to the ice in their first pre-season tilt of the season. And the roster is stocked with youthful talent from the Islanders system.
Hockey is finally back. Sure, the World Cup of Hockey is still happening. But that’s an exhibition tournament that doesn’t really mean much yet. With that being said tonight’s pre-season game between the New York Islanders and the Philadelphia Flyers means about as much, at least to some.
For others, this game is our fist chance to see some of our much-touted prospects put on a show. Prospects like Michael Dal Colle, Joshua Ho-Sang, and Mathew Barzal.
All three feature in a youthful lineup to start the pre-season. Which to be fair isn’t unusual. This is the perfect opportunity for management to get a look at what they’ve actually got in their system. There’s no need to needlessly risk players who are locks for games that mean this little this early.
Earlier this morning Newsday’s Arthur Staple released the New York Islanders lineup for this pre-season game, and boy does it look nice.

Game Line-up
Barzal seems ready to play after sitting out the rookie camp with what was then reported to be a back problem. He’ll start on the first line with Quine and Prince.
Recent $5 million dollar man Ryan Strome will take up second line duties with Dal Colle and Ho-Sang. Ho-Sang who this time around remembered to set his alarm and made it to camp on time. That doesn’t mean he deserves a spot, but he want’s to be here.
The defense looks just as youthful. With the likes of Ryan Pulock and Adam Pelech taking first pair duties. Both are in line for an NHL position in the Isles top six pairings this season, so lets the competition begin. The slue of other Islanders defensive prospects make-up the remainder of the blue line.
NHL hockey is officially back. Let’s see what the kids can do against the Flyers tonight. Don’t get sad if it doesn’t go well. This is all just dressage for the regular season. It’s a way to see what the Isles have in the prospect pool and if any can make the team this season.
