New York Islanders Looking for More of the Same Against Capitals
The New York Islanders welcome the Washington Capitals to the Barclays Center for the second encounter in under two weeks. Another two points would be great, but maybe earn the win this time?
The last time the New York Islanders faced the Washington Capitals the Isles escaped with a win they didn’t fully deserve. The win came on the back of a Jaroslav Halak 38 save shutout.
Halak did what Halak is supposed to do that night just twelve days ago, steal a win where the Isles have no business earning one.
That night the Isles were outshot 38-28. More importantly, they let the Capitals, and Alexander Ovechkin go to the powerplay a total of six times. The Capitals failed on all six of their power plays. Thankfully, Ovechkin was two games into an eight-game scoreless drought.
More from Eyes On Isles
On Sunday against the hapless Vancouver Canucks, Ovechkin broke that drought getting a power play goal. He followed that up with an assist as the Caps won 3-0.
Scoring comes in bunches, not only for Andrew Ladd. The Caps and Ovie won’t go 0/6 given the opportunity again.
Money Line
New York Islanders +115/-135 Washington Capitals
Vegas has the Caps winning this game. Which, in reality, we all do. The Islanders, on paper, shouldn’t win this game. It took a Herculean effort from #41 to get the two points last time around. Naturally, Halak is back in nets for the Islanders again.
But while the Caps are the favorites to win tonight, that +115 odd of the Isles winning shows that Vegas isn’t too confident that the Orange and Blue can’t snatch another two points.
