New York Islanders Daily: Chimera On The Top Line?
A look around the web at the most recent New York Islanders news. Make Eyes On Isles your go to website for all things Islanders.
The New York Islanders brought in Jason Chimera to replace Matt Martin. Naturally, people believed it would be a straight swap, meaning Chimera would be penciled in on the fourth line. Well, yesterday at practice he was skating with John Tavares on the top line.
Chimera brings something to the table that Martin didn’t, speed and goal scoring. Chimera at the ripe old age of 37 had 40 points last year, while Martin had a career high 19.
Chimera was expected to add more scoring to the Islanders fourth line, but instead he is seeing time on the top line. He certainly has talent, but he is a natural LW as he would be playing RW with Tavares.
The only true RW on the roster is Cal Clutterbuck, who is expected to man the fourth line with Casey Cizikas. This doesn’t mean Chimera is guaranteed to be the RW for Tavares. It just means that Jack Capuano will continuously try to shake up the lines trying anything and everything.
