The Nashville Predators have swapped defensemen with Vancouver, sending Ryan Parent to the Canucks for Shane O'Brien.
Predators general manager David Poile announced the trade Tuesday, which also included Nashville exchanging forwards with Jonas Andersson going to Vancouver for Dan Gendur.
O'Brien, 27, is older than the 23-year-old Parent, a defenseman Nashville signed to a two-year deal in July after picking him up in a deal that sent defenseman Dan Hamhuis to Philadelphia. O'Brien played in 65 games fro the Canucks last season with 79 penalty minutes, and he played in each of Vancouver's 12 playoff games with three points and 25 penalty minutes.
Nashville will be the fourth team for O'Brien, who has played in 299 career NHL games.
