Mats Sundin's familiar No. 13 has been raised to the rafters at the Air Canada Centre by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The longtime captain had his number officially retired in a pregame ceremony on Saturday night before the Maple Leafs faced the Montreal Canadiens. He was the 18th player so honored by the team, including fellow Swede Borje Salming - No. 21.
Sundin is the Maple Leafs' career leader with 420 goals and 987 points in 981 games. He never won the Stanley Cup in his 13 seasons with Toronto. Sundin was drafted No. 1 overall by Quebec in 1989 and was traded to Toronto in 1994.
He was with the Maple Leafs through the 2007-08 season, and finished his career the following season with Vancouver.
