Malkin on Penguins' problems: 'It's not only goals ... it's everything'

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin didn't hold back when addressing what is ailing his struggling team.

"It’s not only goals. It’s bad penalties, turnovers, it’s everything," the 2012 Hart Trophy winner told reporters after the Penguins suffered their third loss in four games with a 4-0 setback to the New Jersey Devils on Saturday. "(We're) not play right in the system. It’s not only goals. If you score, it’s a little bit better. But if you can’t score, (you should) play right - not make bad mistakes."

Pittsburgh has mustered just 2.06 goals per contest and its ailing power play has converted at just 12.3 percent this season. Those numbers seem a bit strange considering the Penguins have two-time Hart Trophy winner Sidney Crosby and five-time 30-goal scorer Phil Kessel on their roster.

Malkin also has struggled offensively, collecting just two assists in his last seven games. The 29-year-old Russian has scored four goals and set up eight others in 17 contests this season.
